Al Duca, set in London’s Piccadilly is approaching its tenth birthday. Opened in 1999 as part of the Pulze’s ‘Cuisine Collection’ restaurant group, Al Duca’s offers fine Italian food that has earned it a legion of loyal diners. The restaurant itself uses traditional Italian colours to evoke a warm and inviting feel; terracotta, olive and stone along with oak timber and mosaic tiling are used to great effect. The menu is suitably Italian, offering dishes such as tiger prawns with saffron vinaigrette, clam, garlic and chilli oil linguini and calf’s liver with spinach, raisins and pine nuts. Three courses here cost an average of £40 per person which could be an offer you can’t refuse! 
Located just off Shepherd’s Market, Al Sultan is a small, captivating Lebanese restaurant that has attracted the well-heeled residents of Mayfair for many years. The charming interior with its arched mirrors and fresh floral displays offers comfy banquettes and crisp white tablelinen for relaxed, intimate dining. Tucked away at the back of the gracious Westbury Mayfair Hotel, Artisan is a tastefully elegant restaurant just off Bond Street in the heart of Mayfair. The clean lines of the interior add to the mellow, welcoming ambience, while making the most of the marble floors, crystal chandeliers and dark wood accents. A concise menu features stately interpretations of modern European dishes, with intelligent and uncomplicated flavouring.

Awarded two AA Rosettes for its excellent cuisine, Avista is a new Italian restaurant at 39 Grosvenor Square in Mayfair. The head chef of Avista is Michele Granziera, previously Andy Needham’s deputy at Zafferano for the past six years. On the former site of Brian Turner Mayfair, Avista is directly accessible from Grosvenor Square. The 75-seat restaurant, with a separate bar for up to 25, also features a raised section seating 14 and a private dining room for 8. Avista was designed by David d’Almada, whose other restaurant projects have included La Petite Maison and Zafferano. Avista is open Monday to Friday for lunch and Monday to Saturday evening for dinner. Michele Granziera’s menus encompass both traditional, rustic food and more modern cooking. There are numerous sharing dishes, and particular specialities include Tagliolini with crab, courgettes, chilli and garlic, and Slow Cooked Pork Cheek with mash potatoes, spinach and red wine sauce and Mezzelune filled with aubergine, mozzarella, oregano and tomato coulis. A good range of pasta is available, in addition to regional favourites from Granziera’s home region of Veneto, whilst the well-priced 150-bin wine list offers a selection of French and New World wines alongside a huge range of Italian options.
